377 meters. That’s the height of the new Ciel Dubai Marina, which is being built right at the emirate’s marina and is set to open later this year. With this dizzying height, the hotel not only reaches into the clouds but also surpasses all other hotels that once claimed the title of the world’s tallest hotel. Or almost all. Because this title is mainly about the definition. Often it’s about the meters a hotel rises into the sky. Sometimes it’s also about hotels in buildings that rise many meters high. Elsewhere, it’s additionally about the meters above sea level. TRAVELBOOK attempts to bring some order to the chaos of the world’s tallest hotels in this list–and presents the various height winners.

The 6 Tallest Hotel Buildings in the World

1. Ciel Dubai Marina, Dubai

After seven years of construction, the world’s new tallest hotel opened in November 2025. Dubai’s 377-meter high Ciel Dubai Marina features 1,004 rooms and suites across 82 floors.

In addition to the superlative hotel, which towers over the glittering Dubai skyline and other hotels worldwide, its hotel pool is now the highest in the world: Guests of this luxury hotel swim around 300 meters above the city on the 76th floor. Furthermore, the Dubai hotel offers its guests a spa on the 61st floor, a private beach club, a fitness center, and eight restaurants and bars. The Ciel, part of IHG’s Vignette Collection, was designed by the international architectural firm Norr Group.

2. Gevora Hotel, Dubai

Previously number one, the Gevora Hotel now moves to the second spot among the world’s tallest hotels. The Gevora stretches a full 356 meters into the sky and, like the Ciel, is located in Dubai.

This Dubai luxury hotel features 505 rooms and suites. In addition to a health and wellness club on the 12th floor, including a sauna, there are several pools and gender-separated fitness studios. There are also three restaurants, with two more set to open soon.

3. JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, Dubai

Opened in 2012 with initially one tower, the now two-towered JW Marriott Marquis Hotel in Dubai boasts 1,608 rooms. It is a popular conference hotel with an impressive 8,000 square meters of event space and features 14 different dining establishments. More than its height of around 355 meters, the enormous pool impresses, or more precisely: the view from the water of the numerous skyscrapers of the mega-metropolis.

4. Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, Dubai

Dubai is the center of superlative hotels, and so this fourth tallest hotel in the world is also located in the emirate. The Rose Rayhaan by Rotana reaches 72 floors at a height of 333 meters. The 4-star hotel is located on Sheikh Zayed Road, about 15.3 kilometers from the city center. Prices here start, according to their own information, at an astonishingly affordable 59 euros. There are 462 rooms and suites, as well as spa and fitness offerings, an outdoor pool, and three restaurants.

5. Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, Dubai

Dubai’s iconic sail-shaped hotel Jumeirah Burj Al Arab also belongs on this tallest list, with the luxury hotel reaching a proud 321 meters in height. The hotel is located on a man-made island. It has eight restaurants across 56 floors and around 200 suites, each spanning two floors.

6. Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai

At around 305 meters, these two towers are a bit lower, but no less impressive: the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai. They face each other, with a luxury hotel in one and office spaces in the other, with the so-called “The Boulevard” running between them. The interior architecture is modern, with glass elevators offering views into the grand lobby.

The 8 Highest Located Hotels in the World in a Building

The new leader among the tallest hotels at 377 meters is truly impressive. And yet, the operators of some of the following hotels will probably only smile at this. These are housed in buildings that are among the tallest in the world. And the hotels are sometimes located at their peak. Dizzying views are therefore guaranteed. And: These are not all in Dubai.

1. J Hotel, Shanghai

The Shanghai Tower is, at 632 meters, the tallest building in China and the third tallest in the world. The J Hotel, which opened here in 2021, is thus the highest located hotel in the world in a building. Those who dare to its observation deck stand even higher than guests of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. While it is the tallest building in the world, it only allows visitors to go “just” 452 meters high.

Besides its height, the J Hotel has much more to offer: a huge spa area, numerous restaurants and cafes, and a personal butler who fulfills every guest’s wishes around the clock. Additionally, the hotel features suites with 195 square meters of living space each. Price: between 1,300 euros and 8,800 euros per night, depending on the room category. In total, there are 165 rooms here.

2. Rosewood Guangzhou, Guangzhou

The Rosewood Hotel in the Chinese city of Guangzhou markets itself as the largest hotel in South China. It is located in the Chow Tai Fook Centre, or CTF Centre, a 530-meter high skyscraper with 111 floors. The hotel’s 251 rooms and other facilities extend up to the 108th floor. Its services include a spa, a swimming pool, a fitness center, meeting rooms, and seven restaurants and bars.

3. Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur

The Merdeka 118, also known as PNB 118, in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur is, at a total of 678.9 meters, the second tallest building in the world and the tallest in Southeast Asia, with the last nearly 180 meters accounting for its spire. The Park Hyatt Hotel is located in the uppermost of the 118 floors of the distinctive skyscraper. Since the roof height of the massive tower is “only” about 503 meters, the 5-star hotel ranks third on this list. The hotel features 252 rooms and suites.

4. Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong

Located in Hong Kong’s International Commerce Centre, the 312 hotel rooms of the Ritz-Carlton are in the upper 17 floors of the building. At around 490 meters, according to the hotel, it is the tallest in the city. The view from the large windows is accordingly impressive, both from the Michelin-starred restaurants and from the hotel bar on the 118th floor. Those who want to stay longer must pay at least 360 euros per night.

5. Signiel Seoul, Seoul

The South Korean Signiel Seoul is also located in an impressively large building: the 555-meter high Lotte World Tower in Seoul. However, the hotel itself is located on floors 87 to 101 of the total 123 floors. The placement on this list is therefore only approximate, as it could not be definitively clarified how many meters high the Signiel Seoul actually reaches. Taking the average value of 4.5 meters per floor, the hotel could be up to approximately 454.5 meters high. However, this is just a rough estimate. The Sky Terrace on the 120th floor is estimated to be about 486 meters high.

The Chinese city of Shanghai appears a second time on this list, as the Shimao International Plaza complex measures 333 meters. Within it is the Conrad Shanghai, which opened in 2022. The Chinese 5-star hotel spans 66 floors. In addition to 728 rooms, guests will find a wellness spa, an indoor pool, and three restaurants on site.

7. Baiyoke Sky Hotel, Bangkok

The hotel is located above the famous Pratunam textile market in Thailand’s third tallest building, also known as Baiyoke Tower 2. It measures 328 meters with the antenna, 304 meters without. Its observation deck on the 84th of 88 floors rotates, offering a unique panoramic view of the city’s hustle and bustle. The platform is accessible from morning until late at night for an entrance fee of approximately 10 euros. In comparison, the price for an overnight stay is quite affordable at around 78 euros for a standard room and around 250 euros for the presidential suite. The high-rise also features shopping facilities, eight different restaurants, and numerous business rooms.

8. Shangri-La Hotel, London

The Shangri-La in London is already well-positioned due to its good location: It is located in the heart of the city, overlooking the Thames at the height of Tower Bridge, in the famous skyscraper “The Shard.” At around 310 meters, it remains the tallest structure in Western Europe to this day, and even before the hotel opened in 2014, it attracted a large number of dining options, office spaces, and luxury apartments.

The Actual Highest Located Hotel in the World

For the sake of completeness, we would like to mention another hotel after these two lists of the tallest hotels worldwide. While it is not the tallest hotel building in terms of its own constructed height, it is the hotel that is located the highest above sea level in the world: the Glacier Hotel Grawand in South Tyrol, Italy, stands at 3,212 meters high.
