Traditionally, the asparagus season in Germany starts on April 1—this year, right in time for Easter. It’s the perfect opportunity for a leisurely asparagus meal with family or friends, whether in your own garden or relaxed at a buffet on a farm.
Overview
If you’re looking for quality, you’re no longer limited to the weekly market. Across Germany, numerous farms have specialized in this gourmet vegetable and offer much more than just fresh asparagus. Many farms combine cultivation, gastronomy, and experience: from large excursion destinations with beer gardens and leisure activities to traditional family businesses with farm shops and self-pick fields.
TRAVELBOOK presents six particularly beautiful asparagus farms across Germany, each with unique concepts but always focused on fresh harvests and special enjoyment.
Spargelhof Klaistow (Brandenburg)
The Spargelhof Klaistow is much more than just a classic production farm. It sees itself as a true adventure farm. In addition to attractions like a tire toboggan run, Ferris wheel, and climbing forest, asparagus enjoyment is not neglected here. Beelitz asparagus is freshly harvested from the surrounding fields and sold directly on-site or processed into seasonal specialties in the farm shop.
The range also includes unusual products like asparagus cream liqueur, asparagus beer, asparagus mustard, or asparagus noodles. If you prefer to enjoy asparagus directly, you can visit the self-service restaurant “Scheunenküche” or the rustic farm restaurant. A special highlight is the asparagus buffet, offered several times a week as an all-you-can-eat asparagus edition.
Vielfruchthof Domstiftsgut Mötzow (Brandenburg)
The historic Domstiftsgut Mötzow has been extensively remodeled and is now a large, visitor-accessible experience and gourmet farm. The centerpiece is the large area with a farm café, two restaurants, and a spacious beer garden in the courtyard, which also serves as an event space.
Culinarily, guests can choose between the buffet restaurant “Lämmerstall” and the à la carte restaurant “Schafstall.” In the farm shop, housed in the former horse stable, you’ll find everything for the perfect asparagus meal, including freshly harvested and even pre-peeled asparagus, naturally from their own cultivation.
Spargelhof Hay (Schleswig-Holstein)
The Spargelhof Hay is a true family business with a long tradition: Agriculture has been practiced here for around 300 years. The asparagus grows in the fertile soils of East Holstein and is freshly harvested daily, brought directly to the farm, cooled, sorted, and then sold in the farm shop. If you don’t want to drive directly to the farm, you can also buy asparagus at several sales stands in the area.
The range includes various types of asparagus, including green and purple asparagus. There are also potatoes and strawberries from their own cultivation, as well as other regional products. A bonus: The farm shop offers a free peeling service, and asparagus is prepared on-site upon request. Many other products are also from their own production, including eggs, wild game from their own hunting grounds, as well as geese and carp from their own breeding.
Spargelhof Grewing (North Rhine-Westphalia)
True to the motto “We’re crazy about asparagus,” the family business of Spargelhof Grewing focuses on cultivation and sales of the highest quality. On the farm, visitors can enjoy a mix of beer garden and restaurant in the “Schlemmerzelt,” where asparagus buffets are regularly offered in a relaxed atmosphere. For children, there are also play opportunities directly on the premises.
Thanks to its location on the asparagus route, the farm is also ideal as a stopover on a bike tour. The farm shop offers fresh asparagus and other regional products. Those who want to delve deeper into the world of asparagus can participate in guided asparagus tours—including field visits, self-picking, and fascinating insights into production.

Spargelhof Schulte-Scherlebeck (North Rhine-Westphalia)
At Spargelhof Schulte-Scherlebeck, it’s quickly apparent how popular this place is: The asparagus buffet is already fully booked for the entire 2026 season. The traditional family business grows not only asparagus but also various fruit varieties and focuses on its own products from regional cultivation.
In the large farm shop, there are many other products directly from the farm besides fresh asparagus. A bakery provides freshly baked goods daily. The summer café in the garden is particularly lovely, inviting guests to linger over coffee and cake. On weekends, there’s also a tarte flambée cart, and those who want to be active can pick asparagus directly from the field until June 24.
Obst & Spargelhof Wurth (Baden-Württemberg)
The Obst- und Spargelhof Wurth is a family business in its third generation, combining traditional cultivation with a cozy farm atmosphere. The balanced, mild climate of the Northern Black Forest benefits not only the orchards with cherries and apples but also the asparagus and strawberry fields.
In the farm shop, you’ll find fresh vegetables, asparagus, and a selection of regional products. The farm café is also very inviting: Here, breakfast, homemade cakes, and freshly baked bread are served. The menu also includes homemade spritzers and other drinks.
A nice extra tip: From the farm, you can explore the Baden asparagus route—for example, with a detour to Bruchsal, where Europe’s largest asparagus market takes place.
