The small beach below the coastal village of Grimaldi is about a twenty-minute drive from Ventimiglia and is located in an idyllic bay. Typically, you won’t find a sandy beach here, but rather pretty, smooth pebbles. It’s best to enter the water with rubber water shoes. Snorkeling enthusiasts will also enjoy this spot, as the underwater area is just as beautiful as on land. Our tip: Right next door is the restaurant La Spiaggetta dei Balzi Rossi, offering excellent Ligurian cuisine on a beautiful beach terrace with a view of the sea.
2. Vittoria Beach – Sanremo

Snow-white umbrellas, light sand, and sparkling waves–the beach of Taggia invites you to dream. Those visiting the popular weekly market in nearby Sanremo on Tuesdays or Saturdays should start early in the morning. After a leisurely stroll through the old town, it’s best to avoid the often overcrowded city beach of Sanremo and head instead to the Vittoria Beach in Taggia, about nine kilometers away. Arriving before the midday heat, you can secure a shady spot with a particularly pretty umbrella and have lunch at one of the many beach bars–the regional focaccia is especially popular. In direct proximity to the beach, the restaurants My Dream – Ristorante & Pizzeria and Bar Piccolo Jolly even offer sea views.

Colorful hustle and bustle, colorful houses, colorful umbrellas–life blooms at the Bagni Spaggia D’Oro beach. See and be seen is the motto at this sandy beach, located directly at the Porto Maurizio harbor. You reach the beach after a walk along the promenade of Imperia. Passing by the sailing ships from all over the world that dock here, you reach the sea. Not only foreign tourists, but also Italians themselves prefer to vacation here. Due to the waves, it’s an ideal spot for surfing or kite surfing. The perfect beach to dive into the vibrant life of the Italian summer, making it one of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria for us. Our tip: Near the beach, at the Porto di Imperia harbor basin, the ice cream parlor Gelateria Acquolina – Storica offers sensational ice cream. Besides the classic scoops in a cone, they even have homemade popsicles.

4. Spiaggia di Punta Crena – Finale Ligure

Lush green pine trees, bright blue water, and white sandy beach–Spiaggia di Punta Crena in Finale Ligure impresses with its wild bay, steep cliffs, and finest, light sand. The palm-lined beach promenade Via Aurelia invites you to stroll and enjoy a romantic dinner. For us, it’s clearly one of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria! Much smaller but just as pretty is the bay Capo Noli in the neighboring town of the same name. Besides the fine sand, this region is also known for its excellent, clean water quality. Our tip: Above the Spiaggia di Punta Crena beach, there’s a great viewpoint Torre Saracena, with a fresh sea breeze and a magnificent view of the sea and the small coastal town of Finale Ligure.
5. Spiaggia Libera di Arenzano – Gulf of Genoa

Charming alleys, green mountains, and a dark pebble beach–west of the regional capital Genoa, lies the bathing beach of the small town of Arenzano in a bay. The winding coastal town is home to numerous historic buildings and fascinates not only with the adjacent azure sea. It is also characterized by the unique proximity of the water to the mountains. If lounging on one of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria becomes too boring, you can spice up your beach vacation with a hike or a mountain bike tour to the summit of the nearby Monte Reixa at 1,183 meters high. Our tip: The Italian restaurant Grecale in Arenzano offers excellent pizza and delicious fish dishes right on the beach.

6. Varigotti Beach – Finale Ligure

Colorful houses, Mediterranean charm, and fine sandy beach–Varigotti Beach in Finale Ligure stands out mainly due to the pretty house facades along the beach section. For us, however, it is not only for this reason one of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria. The fine sand of this beach in Finale Ligure invites you to play beach volleyball or take leisurely walks and attracts prominent faces away from mass tourism. Michelle Hunziker likes to vacation here with her whole family. If you’ve had enough of sunbathing and strolling, you can visit one of the typical small local eateries and enjoy the sunset from there. Our tip: The Ristorante Bar Al Saraceno is particularly suitable for this due to its beach location.
7. Spiaggia il Gigante – Monterosso al Mare

Imposing rocks, colorful hustle and bustle, and clear water–the fishing village of Monterosso al Mare is the largest of the Cinque Terre, the five coastal towns that are world-famous for their colorful houses on the steep cliffs above the sea. The beaches are small and embedded directly into the villages, and it is precisely this atmosphere that makes them so charming and popular. Especially for those who want to cool off after a hike in the area and enjoy the Italian flair. Additionally, the beach offers an incredible variety of water sports and is a paradise for aquatic plants and colorful fish. If you like, be sure to pack a snorkel and diving mask! Our tip: Good Italian cuisine near the beach can be found at the restaurant Barbara in White.
8. Baia del Silenzio – Sestri Levante

Crystal-clear water and the perfect blend of architecture and landscape–the beauty of Baia del Silenzio is no longer a secret. So don’t be misled by the name of the beach, which translates to “Bay of Silence,” as you are rarely alone on the beaches of the Cinque Terre. Nevertheless, this bay on the Sestri Levante peninsula is worth a visit and is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria. Following the charm of the picturesque, small alleys through the old town, you reach the sandy beach of Baia del Silenzio. Next to the pier, small fishing boats rock in the water, and in the evening, numerous restaurants along the waterfront invite you to enjoy the day’s catch. Our tip: In the rooftop bar of the Hotel Helvetia, cocktails can be sipped with a particularly good view.
9. Bagni San Fruttuoso – Camogli

A magnificent abbey in the middle of nowhere, azure waves, and rugged cliffs–the Bagni San Fruttuoso beach belongs to the small coastal town of Camogli. This is about a 40-minute drive from the most famous place in the Cinque Terre. You should definitely check out Portofino on this occasion, as the coastal town was even immortalized in one of Dalida’s songs. “I found my love in Portofino” definitely applies to this beach in our case. Here you can take a relaxing ferry ride and escape the crowds and holiday steamers towards San Fruttuoso. The eponymous coastal section on the small peninsula is only accessible from Portofino and Camogli via a hiking trail or the harbor and offers a majestic backdrop along with the abbey. A visit is definitely worthwhile. All in all, definitely one of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria! Our tip: In the small bay, there is the Ristorante Da Giovanni with delicious Italian cuisine.

10. Spiaggia di Camogli – Camogli

Colorful umbrellas, colorful houses, and the pretty Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta right next door–the Spiaggia di Camogli in the coastal town of the same name is another candidate on our list of the most beautiful beaches in Liguria. Here, too, you will find the typical pebble beach of the area, consisting of smooth, oval pebbles. Sensitive feet are therefore advised to wear water shoes. The coastal town of Camogli is incredibly charming with its winding alleys, especially in the early morning or evening hours, where you can wonderfully stroll through the streets. In addition, the harbor basin with its many colorful boats is definitely worth seeing and contributes to the holiday feeling. Our tip: A great restaurant for a dinner in a typical Italian atmosphere is Al Polo 16, located directly behind the Basilica.
11. Spiaggia Vernazza – Vernazza

Endless charm, the azure Mediterranean, and sweet, colorful houses–the small fishing village of Vernazza embodies all that the Liguria region is known and loved for. The small beach shown in the photo is not the only place to truly relax. Directly behind the houses and the headland is another, slightly larger beach, which can be used when the small one is already crowded. Nearby, there are also some interesting hiking trails, such as the Monterosso Vernazza and the Sentiero Vernazza a Cornelia, which runs along the vineyards. Our tip: Unbeatable views of the harbor basin, a beautiful terrace, and really good food can be found at Ristorante Belforte.
