Vietnam might not be the first destination that comes to mind for a beach vacation. However, this is completely unjustified, as the country boasts some of Southeast Asia’s most breathtaking beaches. TRAVELBOOK highlights which ones they are and presents nine of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches.

1. South Beach Son Tra – Da Nang
Turquoise water, soft sand, and the South China Sea–South Beach Son Tra (large image above) is about 10 kilometers from the center of Da Nang. The city has developed into a true vacation paradise not only because of its beautiful beaches but also due to its cultural offerings. For those driving to the beach, there is a parking lot nearby. Since the beach is moderately visited, you can usually find a spot. Additionally, there is a campsite nearby for those who prefer to forgo the comfort of a resort. The shores of South Beach Son Tra gently slope, making it ideal for families with children.
Our tip: The area around Da Nang is perfect for a beach vacation, where other beaches should not be overlooked. North Beach, My Khe Beach, and Non Nuoc Da Nang are also recommended. They are just a few kilometers away and offer the perfect opportunity to explore the area and add some variety to your beach holiday. Even without a rental car, taxis and bus connections provide good access to the beaches.

2. Binh Lap Beach – on Binh Lap
A green oasis surrounded by blue water and green trees–the island of Binh Lap is a true hidden gem among Vietnam’s islands. If you’re seeking peace, this is the place, as Binh Lap is enveloped in a special atmosphere. Previously, fishing was the main activity here, and you can still find many fishermen in the bays of Binh Lap today. They all contribute to the island’s idyllic charm, and it’s impossible not to be captivated by the island’s lifestyle. Due to the unusually large number of rocks in this area, the bays of Binh Lap offer optimal conditions for discovering Vietnam’s underwater world. Those who remember to pack their diving goggles will be overwhelmed by the variety of colorful fish. The rock formations are popular not only with marine life but also make for great climbing adventures for children!
Our tip: If there’s one place where a kayak tour should definitely be booked, it’s the islands of Vietnam. There’s truly no better way to enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery. The island of Binh Lap is particularly recommended for this activity.

3. Bhai Nhat Beach – on Con Son
Picturesque mountains, abundant nature, and untouched beaches–Vietnam’s paradise is located about 100 kilometers from the mainland and is called Con Dao. The archipelago consists of 16 small and large islands, all of which have the most beautiful bays. Among them is the island of Con Son, the largest of the Con Dao Islands, which boasts one of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches. Due to its distance from the mainland, this place has so far been spared from mass tourism. This ensures that the nature–both above and below water–remains largely untouched, providing true relaxation. For those interested in snorkeling and diving, this is heaven on earth. Due to the island’s location, the sunrises and sunsets here are a real highlight. It’s truly worth getting up early at least once during your vacation. The few hotels, restaurants, and cafes on site are all relatively small and full of charm. Only the language barrier could pose a problem, so it’s advisable to use a translation app.
Our tip: On the neighboring island of Bay Canh, between July and October, you have the unique chance to observe sea turtles laying their eggs.

4. Nha Trang Beach – in Nha Trang
Golden sand, many sun umbrellas, and pure vacation vibes–Nha Trang Beach stretches over an impressive six kilometers. It’s no wonder that this coastal town is one of Vietnam’s most popular vacation spots. It’s often referred to as the Riviera of the East. Along the beach, there are many hotels and resorts inviting you to spend your entire vacation here, as there’s plenty of space for everyone. In addition to a wide range of leisure activities, numerous restaurants, cafes, and bars, the occasional beach party provides evening entertainment. The perfect end to any beach day! The best way to enjoy it is by floating on an air mattress on the water.
Our tip: For those who eventually tire of one of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches, the nearby Monkey Island offers a welcome change. On a day trip, you can meet the island’s monkeys. However, caution is advised, as these cheeky animals are true masters of theft!
5. Mui Ne Beach – in Mui Ne
The vibrant yellow of the sand and the deep blue of the ocean–Mui Ne Beach is known for its extraordinary color play. It’s also popular for its optimal kite surfing conditions and is known in the scene as Rang Beach. With a stretch of 16 kilometers, the offerings at Mui Ne Beach are particularly diverse. While many sections are bustling, other parts of the beach offer peace and relaxation. In some areas, hotels, surf schools, small boutiques, and bars line up, while in other sections, there’s not much to see except for a few coconut palms. There’s something for everyone here!
Our tip: The highlight of the area is definitely the towering sand dunes. They are located just outside the coastal town of Mui Ne and should not be missed. For those who find a walk through the dunes insufficient, a quad tour is worthwhile. It’s an unforgettable experience, leading right through the dune landscape and can be booked on site.
6. Bai Chong – on Cu Lao Cham
Soft, white sandy beaches and many, many palm trees–the island of Cu Lao Cham is home to some of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches. Our favorite among them is Bai Chong Beach, where you feel like you’re on a deserted island. Pure relaxation is found here in perfect harmony with a diverse range of activities. For those eager to head to Cu Lao Cham, there are three options. The starting point is always the city of Hoi An. From here, you can take the public ferry towards the small island. It departs from Bach Dang Harbor and makes a stop at Cua Dai Pier, so you can also board there. The other two options involve booking a private trip, where you only need to choose between a speedboat and a Vietnamese sailboat.
Our tip: At Bai Chong, you can enjoy activities such as jet skiing or banana boating. The latter guarantees fun, and with all the laughter, there won’t be a dry eye in the house.
7. Long Beach – on Phu Quoc
Brilliant white sandy beaches and magnificent palm trees–Phu Quoc is often referred to as the “Pearl Island.” The reason for this name is evident when you look at the island’s beaches. It’s not only popular for its white sand; Phu Quoc also boasts an incredibly large national park. This park is home to many plant species, many of which are endangered. The area around the island is also well protected, with numerous corals, colorful fish, and other marine life. Those who wish to observe these creatures up close can visit one of the local surf schools. One of the island’s most beautiful beaches is Long Beach. True to its name, it stretches over several kilometers and is a real hotspot. There’s always something happening here, with a wide range of hotels and dining options, and the chances of a beach party in the evening are quite high.
Our tip: For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle, Khem Beach and Sao Beach are great options. Both are located in the south of the island and are situated in secluded bays.

8. Ha Long Bay – on Cat Ba
Vegetated rocks, clear water, and many mountains–Cat Ba Island is the largest island in an archipelago in Ha Long Bay. It is world-famous for its landscape, which offers a mix of wild jungle, ocean, and rugged rocks. Only a few islands in the bay are habitable, with Cat Ba Island being the largest. Similar to Phu Quoc, almost half of Cat Ba Island is a protected national park. In this natural paradise, dense mangrove forests and coral reefs grow, providing a home for many animal species. One of the main beaches is called Cat Co and is located near the town of Cat Ba. If you have the opportunity, you should definitely explore the bay and its islands by boat.
Our tip: For those who want to be active during their beach vacation, there are numerous hiking trails to explore. These wind through the park and lead through the jungle up to the waterfalls. It’s a real adventure, with various tours available for booking on site.
9. Hon Kho Beach – a Hidden Gem
Colorful boats, white sand, and dreamy water–Hon Kho Beach is located in the Binh Dinh region and is a true hidden gem. Just a few kilometers from the center of Quy Nhon, it is situated on a small island that shares the same name as the beach itself. Due to this location, it ranks among the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam. Since few people know about this beach, you often have it all to yourself. The beach is easily accessible by ferry from the small coastal town of Nhon Hai. There are a few hotels in Nhon Hai, but the area has so far been spared from mass tourism. Therefore, there are hardly any souvenir shops, so be sure to bring your diving goggles. The dining options are small but excellent! If you prefer tranquility over hustle and bustle on your vacation, Hon Kho Beach is the perfect place for you.
Our tip: In Quy Nhon, some guides offer private tours to the island. This provides an opportunity to get to know the land and its people firsthand. They often know the best spots and restaurants for authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
