Germany is the fourth-largest EU member state after France, Spain, and Sweden, with about 357,000 square kilometers (as of May 2022). The population is approximately 83 million, spread across 16 states. These are:

The largest state by area is Bavaria, with 70,542 square kilometers, followed by Lower Saxony (47,710 km²) and Baden-Württemberg (35,748 km²).
