The yacht, set to be the world’s widest at nearly 33 meters, is expected to cost 418 million pounds. Its name: “Sovrano.” What makes the yacht stand out: TRAVELBOOK has the details.
The Italian design firm Lazzarini aims high with its new concept. More precisely, it aims to go massively wide. The yacht “Sovrano” (meaning “Sovereign” in English) is expected to measure an impressive 33 meters. This would make it the widest yacht in the world. In comparison, the world’s largest yacht, “Azzam,” is 180 meters long but only 21 meters wide. The further plans for the “Sovrano,” which has so far only set sail virtually, are equally extravagant.
It is expected to have a length of about 169 meters. For comparison, that’s 30 meters more than the “MS Berlin,” which served as the floating home for the popular ZDF TV series “Das Traumschiff” from 1986 to 1999. The former Traumschiff accommodates more than 400 passengers and 180 crew members, whereas the “Sovrano” is designed for only 60 crew members and a maximum of 50 guests in 20 private suites. TRAVELBOOK spoke with the Lazzarini Design Studio to find out what else guests can expect.

Three-Story Atrium, Helipads, and Luxury Garage
The “Sovrano” will be constructed from steel and lightweight carbon fiber composites and will span a total of five levels. The three-story atrium with a retractable roof at the bow of the ship, featuring a large pool and garden area, is the centerpiece of the superyacht. According to Lazzarini: “We can fully customize the interior of the ‘Sovrano’ to meet the clients’ wishes. We anticipate a construction time of four years and costs of about 500 million euros.”

Two massive extensions on the sides of the main deck account for the record width. The extensions, each measuring 5.50 meters, increase the yacht’s width from 22 to 33 meters. These extensions can optionally be used as helipads, additional swimming pools, or lounge areas. In any case, the platforms below and inside can be lowered to the waterline using electric winches.

The fitness facilities and multiple swimming pools planned for the “Sovrano” were expected, but not necessarily the luxury garage. With two cranes, tenders (boats for transferring passengers) can be launched directly into the water or favorite vehicles can be brought on board. The garage accommodates two 49-foot tenders and six (luxury) cars.

The future widest yacht in the world, “Sovrano,” is to be powered by electric motors or a hybrid system. It will travel the world’s oceans at a top speed of 18 to 31 knots–at least for the elite audience that can afford and wishes to secure a place on the luxury ship.
