The list of the “World’s 50 Best Bars,” or the 50 best bars in the world, is compiled anew each year. It is based on the opinions of more than 800 bar experts worldwide, including bartenders, consultants, beverage writers, and cocktail specialists, as stated on the voting website. They each recently cast eight votes based on their personal bar experiences over the past 18 months. This collection of votes ultimately resulted in the current ranking.

The Best Bar in the World is in Hong Kong

First place goes for the second consecutive year to “Bar Leone” in Hong Kong. It was opened in 2023 by the multiple award-winning Italian bartender Lorenzo Antinori. “Bar Leone sees itself as a counterpoint to complicated concepts, elaborately staged drink menus, and overloaded cocktails. Instead of complexity, the bar focuses on simplicity, instead of excessive seriousness, on fun and even humor,” the authors write in their justification. They continue: “Because Bar Leone knows: A successful bar visit depends on the details. On the warmth of the welcome as well as the right lighting. This also includes quirky little things, such as an old photo of the Pope at a parade in a Ferrari or a speaker in the restroom playing ‘Hallelujah.'”

Second place is held by Bar Moebius Milano, which also earns the title of Europe’s best bar in 2026. Third place and the best bar in South America is Alquímico in the Colombian coastal city of Cartagena.

London Has the Most Best Bars in the World

Hong Kong, Paris, and New York top the list of cities with the most favorite bars of the jury: Each hosts four of the world’s best bars. London also makes it into the top ten twice with its “Tayēr + Elementary” and the “Connaught Bar.”

However, the outlook is bleak again this year for the German bar scene. Not a single bar from Germany is among the 50 best bars in the world. Even among places 51 to 100, no German bar appears. The last time was the Berlin “Wax On” in the 2025 ranking at number 57 in the top 100.
