Phantasialand in Brühl is one of the most well-known amusement parks in Germany. Covering about 28 hectares, the park offers various themed areas with rides, dining, shows, and several themed hotels. Now, there’s a new attraction. TRAVELBOOK reveals what’s behind it.

Earlier this year, Phantasialand in Brühl near Cologne secured second place in the ranking of the best amusement parks in Germany. It was also awarded first place in the “Best Price for Families” category at the German Family Awards 2024/25. Visitors can now look forward to a new ride.

With more than 50 attractions, Phantasialand never gets boring. However, the operators regularly provide new additions. The “Pirates 4D” theater closed at the end of the 2024/25 winter season. In its place, the facade of the new “Residenz Theater” is now visible. While the park remained silent for about a month about what visitors could expect, the secret has now been revealed.

The new 4D attraction “The 3 Mouseketeers” is a 360-degree experience designed for the whole family. It features a specially produced animated film on a 3D screen, combined with panoramic glasses, moving seats, and effects like wind and scents. The new attraction also incorporates the mouse theme that visitors already know from the 3D attraction “Maus au Chocolat.”

What can you experience at Phantasialand?

Phantasialand features six major themed worlds. These include a colorful fantasy fairy tale world, as well as Berlin (with Rookburgh), Mexico, China Town, Mystery (with Klugheim), Fantasy (with Wuze Town), and Deep in Africa. The newest themed area is Rookburgh, which opened in 2020 in a steampunk style with aviation elements.

Like other amusement parks, such as Europa-Park or Heide Park, Phantasialand offers a variety of roller coasters and rides. A classic is the Black Mamba in the Deep in Africa themed area, where the seats hang below the track and the route passes close to rock walls, bridges, and waterways. In the Mexico themed area, the Suspended Top-Spin Talocan spins in various directions, accompanied by fire and water effects. The log flume Chiapas promises a particularly steep drop. With the Flying Launch Coaster F.L.Y., visitors can ride in a lying position through the Rookburgh themed world.

New attractions in other amusement parks

Other German amusement parks also have some new attractions this year. At Europa-Park in Rust (Baden-Württemberg), the new movie “Grand Prix of Europe” is launching. Additionally, an interactive ride is being developed in the well-known pyramid in the Luxembourg-themed area. The fine-dining concept “Eatrenalin,” which opened in 2022, is also set to expand. Since September 3, the “ArkaZien” in Beiersdorf near Grimma (Saxony) has been Germany’s first eco-friendly amusement park. The nature-oriented park focuses primarily on wood: instead of roller coasters, you’ll find play and climbing facilities and a marketplace with small shops.
