An award from the Michelin Guide is internationally recognized as a mark of outstanding cuisine–the more stars, the higher the culinary level. Accordingly, dining at an acclaimed restaurant is often not only hard to secure but also quite expensive. However, there are exceptions: Some Michelin restaurants offer surprisingly affordable menus. TRAVELBOOK presents a selection.
When people think of Michelin, they often first think of the tire manufacturer. This very company also created the well-known star system. Originally intended as a travel guide, the Guide aimed to make driving more popular before becoming a benchmark for fine dining with the introduction of stars in 1926. Each year, the “Guide Michelin” honors outstanding restaurants. In addition to stars, it awards the “Bib Gourmand” for particularly good food at moderate prices. The official website of the Michelin Guide also lists more affordable restaurants.
