For many, visiting a Christmas market is part of the Advent season. In a metropolis like Berlin, there are countless options–making it quite a challenge to choose. The Berlin team from TRAVELBOOK has compiled four of their favorite markets for you.
Everywhere, small lights twinkle, the scent of mulled wine and gingerbread fills the air, and Christmas music can be heard from every corner. Christmas markets often have a unique atmosphere and are a part of the Advent season for many–even if they are frequently crowded. In our list, we present four Christmas markets in Berlin that we particularly like–whether they are well-known or not, more suited for adults or children.
Christmas Market at Charlottenburg Palace
The romantic Christmas Market at Charlottenburg Palace is certainly no insider tip–but it is still one of the most beautiful in all of Berlin. The setting in front of the festively illuminated palace is absolutely worth seeing. The market itself offers a vast culinary selection–from sweet Christmas snacks to the classic bratwurst, everything is available.
The numerous stands with handicrafts are also particularly beautiful. There is traditional Christmas decor, wooden toys, glassblowing, ceramics, and much more. At the Christmas Market at Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, not only adults but also young visitors will find plenty to enjoy. Carousels and many other attractions will amaze the children.

Alt-Rixdorf Christmas Market
The Alt-Rixdorf Christmas Market at Richardplatz in Berlin is also worth a visit. Traditionally, it takes place on the second Advent weekend against a historical backdrop. Richardplatz is the center of the former village of Rixdorf. Buildings from the 14th century, such as the Old Forge and the Bethlehem Church, are still preserved. The market’s unified lighting concept using natural light from gas and oil lamps gives it a special old-Berlin flair.
There are around 200 stands, all operated by nonprofit associations and groups. They mainly offer homemade goods like jams, honey, wooden toys, and handicrafts. Purchases support charitable work. Besides culinary delights, children won’t be bored. At the Alt-Rixdorf Christmas Market, a witch distributing sweets and a Santa Claus with his angels are present.

The Nordic Fairy Tale Christmas at Britz Manor is known for its special program. The historic Christmas market is organized by artists from the Cocolorus Budenzauber traveling theater. The Snow Queen with her trolls strolls between the stands, and Frau Holle mingles with the visitors. Fairy tales are recited, and there are performances of theater, magic, dance, and acrobatics in winter costumes.
Culinary needs are also well catered to on-site. Fans of the Middle Ages will particularly enjoy it here. There is medieval spiced wine, hot quince mead, grilled fire meat, and sweet treats.

Lucia Christmas Market in the Kulturbrauerei
Amid the romantic setting of the Kulturbrauerei, the Lucia Christmas Market takes place every year. Santa Claus visits daily, and there is a wish mailbox for last-minute wishes. An angel also wanders among the stalls every evening. Additionally, there is a nostalgic chain carousel for children and a small knight’s castle.
The Christmas market in the Berlin Kulturbrauerei stands out for its Nordic touch. There is a Swedish fire and a warming art installation “Open-Air Coat Heater,” where coats are pre-warmed using a wood stove.

One Last Time 2025—the Kladower Christkindlmarkt at the Harbor
This year marks the end of a piece of Berlin’s Christmas history. The traditional Kladower Christkindlmarkt at the harbor is taking place for the last time. It offers handicrafts and culinary delights, with proceeds benefiting charitable projects for children and youth. The market has been organized by dozens of volunteers. According to “Tagesspiegel,” bureaucracy and rising costs are the reasons for its closure. A traditional feature of the market was the display of sheep, which is no longer permitted. The Kladower Christkindlmarkt is open this year on December 6 and 7 from noon to 7 p.m. Admission is free.
