Many people claim to know “the best pizza in the world.” And for some of them, that might even be true. As every year, the experts at “Top 50 Pizza” have officially awarded the title for 2026. There was a change at the top of the ranking for the best pizzas in the world compared to the previous year.
“What does pizza experts even mean?” you might be asking yourself. In the case of the operators of “50 Top Pizza,” quite a lot–the website is considered the “Michelin Guide for pizza” in culinary circles. For their annual rankings, they work with a whole range of culinary experts to achieve the most objective results possible. These individuals are sent to dine at various pizzerias around the world–anonymously, of course. They then provide a comprehensive review of the pizza they ate, as well as other dishes offered there. The selection of drinks and the overall atmosphere on site are also described. According to the thorough evaluation of the reports, the best pizza in the world is not found in Italy, but in… London!
The Best Pizza in the World: Napoli on the Road from London
Last year in fifth place, this year at the very top: the pizza business Napoli on the Road, led by Michele Pascarella, which has three restaurants in different parts of London. According to the “50 Top Pizza” jury, the biggest highlight of the pizzas served there is the dough. It is “light, airy, and designed to perfectly support even more extravagant toppings without overpowering them.” Napoli on the Road is constantly evolving and has long been more than just a pizzeria, it is said. “The company has become a reference for anyone seeking a modern interpretation of the Neapolitan tradition–characterized by talent, ambition, and a clear vision.”
Second Place: Una Pizza Napoletana, New York City
Second place also doesn’t go to Italy, but to last year’s winner in New York City. Una Pizza Napoletana is run by Anthony Mangieri, originally from New Jersey and raised in an Italian-American family. He is the man at the oven, and that is apparently meant literally. Allegedly, the chef oversees every single pizza that goes over his counter. The jury raves about the pizzeria, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year: “The menu features only a few pizzas, but each has its own character. The foundation is a soft, airy dough that almost melts on the tongue and is highly recognizable. Even before tasting, the pizza impresses with its aroma, followed by its vibrant colors. With every bite, expectations are met: lightness, flavor, and the joy of an exceptionally good pizza.”

Third Place: Confine, Milan
Finally, Italy! According to “Top 50 Pizza,” the best pizza in the country is not found in Naples, where it is said to have been invented, but in the northern Italian city of Milan. In the stylish setting of Confine, you can either order individual pizzas à la carte or choose from one of three tasting menus. The tasting menus, with four, five, or six consecutively served pizza pieces, cost between 55 and 70 euros. In addition to classic traditional pizzas, the menu also includes fried and baked pizza creations for sharing, such as small pan pizzas and special signature pizzas of the house. The jury also praises the excellent wine selection from the in-house wine cellar, and the beer selection apparently leaves nothing to be desired.
